Hoax backwards compatibility hack could brick your Xbox One

Xbox One owners who follow the instructions in a supposed backwards compatibility hack face wrecking their 425 machine.

Kotaku says that an image carrying instructions on how to make an Xbox One backwardly compatible with Xbox 360 games has been doing the rounds online.

However, following the steps takes users into their console’s developer menu and allegedly places the machine into an endless boot cycle that cannot be escaped from.

That it’s possible to break a machine in this way isn’t great – that someone decided to try and trick owners into breaking their machines in the first place is shocking.

NOTE – DON’T EVER, EVER DO THIS OR YOU COULD BREAK YOUR XBOX ONE
