PS4 claims 10% of Twitch traffic

The Share button on PS4 has proven a big hit with users.

Sony reckons that since the console’s US launch on November 15th 10 per cent of all broadcasts on streaming video site Twitch have come from PS4 systems. These broadcasts have lasted an average of 31 minutes each.

In addition, PS4’s Share Menu has been accessed 10.9m times.

All of which has helped Twitch increase the number of broadcasts on its network from 600k to 700k between October and November.

PlayStation 4 is specifically designed so people can share their gaming experiences and interest in streaming live gameplay has surpassed our wildest expectations,” Sony Studios boss Shuhei Yoshida said.

We’re very excited to see gamers embrace live streaming from their PS4 system and we look forward to seeing how PlayStation gamers advance social gaming in the coming years.”

Twitch’s VP or marketing Matthew DiPietro added: "When people look back at the true game changers of 2013, the integration of Twitch into the current generation consoles will be on the short list.”
