Hopes high for Actis other Xmas release

It’s not all about Call of Duty for Activision this Christmas, as it believes a new Spyro game could become ‘the next big thing.’

The firm is planning to spend big on Skylanders: Spyro Adventure, a unique game that interacts with a range of toys. A series of bundles are planned, with Activision teaming up with retailers such as Toys R Us.

The game comes with a USB portal, and when users place their toys on it, their creature will appear in the title as a character.

This is a breakthrough for both industries,” the game’s associate producer Jared Yeager told MCV. We hope this is the next big thing.

We’ve had endorsements from several retailers. Toys R Us will be a great partner because they were inspired by what we’re trying to do.”

A range of 32 toys is currently planned, with the first wave arriving alongside the game on October 14th.

The Starter Pack will contain the portal, the game and three figures, and is expected to retail for 69.99. Single character packs will be priced at around 7 to 8.

A Pirate Adventure pack and other three-figure bundles will also be released.
