Is Battlefield: Hardline EA’s new police-focused FPS?

Rumours that the next Battlefield title will ditch the military in favour of a police-based setting have intensified with the discovery of new assets.

CVG reports that fansites have unearthed a host of details tucked away on EA’s Battlelog servers which point to a title named Battlefield: Hardline that is apparently scheduled for release on both current and last-gen titles, as well as PC.

Previous reports have suggested the game is in development at Dead Space studio Visceral and not series stalwart DICE.

CVG adds that alongside Battlefield, fellow IP Titanfall and upcoming Star Wars brand Battlefront will form EA’s three-prong FPS strategy going forwards.

As previously reported, that means an end to Medal of Honor as well as the annualisation of Battlefield – the latter of which necessitates a multi-studio strategy for the IP. Not least because of the struggles Battlefield 4 has faced since launch.
