J.K. Rowling’s Pottermore heading to PlayStation Home

The world of Harry Potter is coming to Sony’s virtual domain PlayStation Home next month.

Sony has announced a new Potter-themed area will be added to the online community based around JK Rowling’s Pottermore site, according to the PlayStation blog.

Pottermore is a website that allows The Boy Who Lived’s fans to explore the fiction of the books further, as well as play games and interact with their friends. It was launched as part of a deal between J.K. Rowling and Sony.

In PlayStation Home’s Pottermore area, PS3 owners will be able to explore Diagon Alley and ride the Hogwarts Express, kitting out their avatars with Hogwarts uniforms and other Potter-themed items.

There will be a selection of mini-games such as Book Herding and Wizard’s Duels, as well as a Pottermore quiz. Users will even be able to link their PlayStation Home and Pottermore accounts and swap virtual trading cards.
