SCE WWS VP and London Studios chief departing on May 29th

Jamie MacDonald to leave Sony

Sony’s Jamie MacDonald is to leave the company at the end of this month.

SCEE this morning confirmed to Develop that the Sony World Wide Studios VP and London Studio boss will exit on May 29th – however both MacDonald and the format-holder have chosen not to comment further on his departure.

MacDonald started his career in entertainment technology working for the BBC – then in 1995, he moved to head up Criterion for five years when it first moved into games and then middleware.

After an 18-month stint at NTL he joined Sony’s London Studio in 2001 as its first director.

At the studio he has been responsible for overseeing the introduction of huge franchises such as EyeToy, SingStar and The Getaway. In late 2005 he was promoted to Vice President of the reorganised Sony World Wide Studios and given responsibility for both London and Cambridge Studios.
