Expanding services firm acquires India-based outsourcing company

Keywords acquires art specialist Lakshya Digital

Lakshya Digital is the latest company to be added to Keywords’ growing list of acquisitions.

The firm – based in New Delhi and Pune, India – is a provider of outsourced art services for games developers, and has now been acquired by Keywords Studios for $4m.

Founded in 2004, Lakshya currently employs 270 people, and has established good relationships with a number of leading developers in the US and Japan.

Now part of the Keywords empire, the firm gives its new parent its first avenue into a new market: art assets, such as characters, vehicles, landscapes, cityscapes, space ships and weapons.

Keywords has acquired a number of service firms throughout the world this year, including Binari Sonori and Babel Media. Babel also has a facility in New Delhi, India.

"By providing us with an entry point into the large, growing yet fragmented art outsourcing market, the acquisition of Lakshya provides Keywords with additional growth opportunities as well as cost and revenue synergies," says Keywords’ chief exec Andrew Day (pictured).

"We look forward to welcoming Lakshya’s highly talented employees to the fast growing Keywords group and to continuing to build upon its strong brand, leveraging Keywords’ unparalleled geographic footprint, client relationship and financial strength."
