Larry Probst stepping down as EA chairman

EA’s longterm executive chairman Larry Probst is stepping down from his role on January 1st.

Polygon reports that Probst will continue to serve as a non-executive chairman. He’s been at EA since 1984 and has on several occasions stepped up to assume control between the appointment of figureheads such as John Riccitiello and Andrew Wilson.

"Larry Probst became an employee of EA again when he stepped in as interim CEO in March 2013," an EA rep said. "He remained in an employee capacity following Andrew Wilson’s appointment as CEO in September 2013 to assist with the CEO transition.

He remains the chairman of our board and there are no plans for Mr Probst to step down as board chairman."

Probst is also an IOC member and is involved in the USA’s bid to host the 2024 Olympics.
