Madden 16 will have women in its crowds for the first time

Really, Madden never had women in the crowds before? Does FIFA? Clearly we haven’t been paying enough attention.

FIFA 16 is taking a big step forward this year with the addition for the first time of female teams, albeit just a limited selection of international squads.

US-centric release Madden may not be taking quite as significant a step, but there will at least be one gender-specific addition.

We’re excited about FIFA adding women players, but we wouldn’t let them steal all the thunder," one of the game’s developer told GameSpot. "So we’ve added women to our crowds."

Although the industry still has a long, long way to go, E3 2015 at least hinted that a growing number of content creators are aware of their responsibility to stop alienating female players, with many taking steps toward something resembling a level playing field.
