Development legend returning to the series he created with micro-team

Michael Ancel creating 2D Rayman game

Speaking at Ubisoft’s E3 conference, company CEO Yves Guillemot has confirmed that game design luminary Michael Ancel is returning to Rayman, the series he conceived, to create a 2D platformer named Rayman Origins.

The game is set for a XBLA and PSN release, and has been created by a team of five using the Ubiarts proprietary toolkit.

Ancel also designed Beyond Good and Evil, and appears to be giving Origins a handpainted look like that made most famous by the Metal Slug games and, more recently, Wario’s wii outing.
