Microsoft said Diablo 3’s original 900p Xbox One resolution was ‘unacceptable’

The initial 900P resolution of Diablo 3 was unacceptable, Microsoft told Blizzard.

It meant the hit PC publisher worked directly with Xbox in an effort to bump the resolution to 1080p.

It is in contrast to previous Microsoft statements, who have said that they ‘struggle to see the difference’ between Xbox One and PS4 games. And that frame rate was more important than resolution.

But it shows how the platform holder is working overtime to level the playing field between Xbox One and PS4.

"We did find it challenging early on to get it to 1080p," Blizzard’s John Hight told Digital Foundary.

"That’s why we made the decision to drop to 900. That’s what we demoed and were showing around E3 time. And Microsoft was just like, ‘This is unacceptable. You need to figure out a way to get a better resolution.’ So we worked with them directly, they gave us a code update to let us get to full 1080p."
