Sony confirms unspecified number of job losses

Infamous developer Sucker Punch suffers layoffs

Sony-owned Infamous developer Sucker Punch has been hit by a round of layoffs.

As reported by IGN, a Sony spokesperson confirmed there had been redundancies, but did not reveal the extent of the job losses.

“SCEA can confirm a reduction in workforce has taken place at Sucker Punch Productions,” read a statement from Sony.

“Sucker Punch is appreciative of the tremendous work team members contributed to the Infamous and Sly Cooper series, and wishes them the best in their next endeavours.”

Washington-based studio Sucker Punch was formed in 1997 and is most famous for its work on the Sly Cooper and Infamous games.

The developer was acquired by Sony in August 2011, though it has made games exclusively for the platform holder’s hardware since 2000.
