Net income up 258% at Capcom

Japanese publisher Capcom has posted its best ever annual net sales report for the year ending March 31st 2011.

Net income for the period jumped 257.6 per cent year-on-year to YEN 7,750m. Operating income jumped 155.8 per cent to YEN 14,295m and ordinary income increased 132.6 per cent to YEN 12,861m.

Net sales hit a record YEN 97,716m – a 46.2 per cent increase on the year before.

The biggest success for the company was PSP release Monster Hunter Freedom 3 which shipped over 4.6m units and became the fastest selling game in the console’s history.

In other markets two titles passed 2m sales – Dead Rising 2 and Marvel vs Capcom 3. Shipments of Super Street Fighter IV passed 1.6m units and Lost Planet 2 shipped 1.5m.
