Over-the-top shooter franchise coming to both PC and mobile in the East

New 2K Shanghai team bringing Borderlands Online to China

2K Games has set up a brand new dedicated development and support team for a new Borderlands built specifically for China.

Borderlands Online will be brought to the region by Shanda Games, and will feature new characters, weapons and a fresh storyline. Characters are expected to be similar to those in the original Borderlands.

Reports also suggest the game will be made available for both PC and mobile, according to Kotaku.

Like many online titles in China, Borderlands Online is expected to be free-to-play. It’s slated for launch in 2015, though it’s unclear whether this will be the full release or a Beta, as has been the case for the similar Call of Duty Online.
