GDC 09: Developer Level 5 reveals surprise hit's sequels will make it to the West

New Layton will hit Europe, USA by end of ’09

The developers of the excellent Professor Layton and the Curious Village, which has been a big hit in the UK and Europe over the last six months, have confirmed at GDC that the sequel will be released in the West.

Level 5, which has developed a trilogy of Layton games all already released in Japan and is working on another three games as well as a movie, named the game as Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box.

Studio head Akihiro Hino confirmed that his team is localising the title at the moment and hopes it will be out within the next six months.

Presumably the third game will follow in 2010 – Hino said that he wants to see all six titles eventually released in the West.
