Next Battlefield title called Battlefield 1, set in World War One

The next entry in EA’s Battlefield series is taking the franchise to World War One and will be hitting shelves this October.

The new title – Battlefield 1 – is set for release on PS4, Xbox One and PC (via Origin) on October 21st.

Players will be able to fight in France, the Italian Alps and the Arabian desert.

The game’s World War One setting was previously alluded to in a retail leak earlier this year.

It’s also a stark contrast to Battlefield’s biggest rival in the military shooter genre, Activision’s Call of Duty series. This year’s entry in that franchise, Infinite Warfare, is set in the far future.

The game will deliver a fresh experience full of what makes Battlefield great, with a multiplayer sandbox, immersion, epic scale, authenticity, team play and an ever-changing world full of unexpected Battlefield moments, DICE senior producer Aleksander Grndal said.

We’re inviting players on an epic journey across a war-torn world, taking them to the Great War and providing something both varied and unique in Battlefield 1.”
