Next Ghost Recon gets new 2012 release date

Having been on Ubisoft’s release schedule without a firm date for some time, the publisher has at last announced a (hopefully) final release date for Ghost Recon: Future Soldier.

The company told Joystiq that the title will be released in the US on March 6th. Which, incidentally, is the same day EA and BioWare’s Mass Effect 3 is due out.

That points to a likely UK release on March 9th.

The game itself has been on the cards since around 2009, but a string of delays and even a name change has seen it undergo a range of transformations, much as happened with one of Ubisoft’s other reborn franchises – Splinter Cell.

The game will use Microsoft’s Kinect camera to allow players to manipulate guns, though the core game itself will still be primarily joypad controlled.
