Ono: 2m sales needed before Capcom greenlights sequels

Street Fighter producer Yoshinori Ono says that Capcom won’t greenlight sequels to games that sell under 2m copies.

In an interview with Famitsu (via Eventhubs) Ono was asked about the possibility of a sequel to Street Fighter X Tekken. Having downplayed the possibility, the mag pointed out that the Capcom vs SNK series didn’t achieve major success until the release of the sequel – for which investment in both the first and second games was of course a prerequisite.

“That’s what I’ve always been telling the company too,” Ono replied. “But at the end of the day, there are just some brick walls that a salaryman can never overcome.
