Origin userbase now 25% the size of Steam

EA’s digital distribution platform Origin now has 9.3 million users, the publisher has claimed.

This would mean that the storefront is now 25 per cent the size of rival platform Steam, which has more than 40 million customers.

EA also revealed that it generated more than $100 million from Origin since its launch in June last year.

The publisher recently announced that 11 publishers including Trion Worlds, CD Projekt RED and Paradox Interactive had signed deals to support the platform, whilst Capcom, Warner Bros and THQ are also backing Origin with key franchises.
