Studio blasé on losing independence after Ubisoft buyout

Other publishers wanted us, RedLynx claims

Other publishers were interested in acquiring RedLynx before Ubisoft bought the studio, the Trials HD developer has claimed.

RedLynx Co-founder Antti Ilvessuo also said the studio was not worried about losing its independence and that Ubisoft’s acquisition meant it would be able to continue to develop great games.

"For us, it has never been a question of being independent or non-independent," Ilvessuo told Edge.

"Even though we were independent, we always looked for the right kind of partnerships.

"Having had good success in some of the industry’s growth areas, and being able to prove that we can keep on developing great games, it is natural that different publishers have been interested in working with us.”

He added that the developer will be taking advantage of the 25 studio’s Ubisoft owns for additional services and support and to share information, technology and best practices with.

The French publishing giant announced the acquisition of RedLynx on Wednesday as part of the company’s plans to strengthen its online presence.
