Plague Inc receiving Dawn of the Planet of the Apes expansion

Smartphone and PC strategy title Plague Inc has nabbed a big-time licensing tie-up with 20th Century Fox’s Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.

An upcoming Simian Flu expansion offers a number of gameplay alterations, with players controlling communities of intelligent apes at the same time as guiding the human infection. The overall aim is to wipe out humanities and help the apes rise to power.

When I was making Plague Inc (as a hobby) three years ago I was watching the previous film Rise of the Planet of the Apes and the end credits scene gave me a lot of inspiration for Plague Inc,” creator James Vaughan said.

[It’s] crazy to think that Plague Inc is now big enough to work directly with the film’s sequel.”

The Dawn of the Planet Apes hits cinemas this month, while the Simian Flu update will be released for the game on all existing platforms – iOS, Android, PC and Mac – soon”. It will also feature in the upcoming Xbox One version
