PlayStation Network tops 60m users

The total userbase for Sony’s PlayStation Network has surpassed 60 million consumers.

The platform holder announced its online service had reached this new milestone during its CES 2011 press conference in Las Vegas.

The figure was given by Sony chairman, president and CEO Sir Howard Stringer during a presentation that focused on the firm’s goal of connecting all of its devices together.

The announcement shows continuing strong growth for PSN, which is accessible through both PS3 and PSP. Last year, Sony announced the userbase had reached 40 million users, meaning more than 20 million people have signed up to the service in 2010 alone.
