PS3 hack does work

It looks as if the PSJailbreak, the first device that claims to allow for the playing of backed up (read: pirated) games on PS3 is real.

We’ve has had confirmation of the procedure’s success,” iTWire reports. There are a few caveats, including the requirement to have any other PS3 game disc in the drive at the time and also the limitation of external hard drives only working if all files are under 4GB in size.”

The site also claims that the directors of OzModChips, the retailer that is behind the device’s arrival, have re-mortgaged their homes to bankroll its development.

Meanwhile, one retailer has stopped taking pre-orders for PSJailbreak due to the high demand that has seen the first batch sell out – despite the AUS $170 price point.

Sony is investigating the issue but has yet to give an official response.
