PS4 sales pass 30m worldwide

Sony has confirmed that PS4 has hit a new sales milestone.

As of November 22nd 2015 sales of the console have reached 30.2m units. It has reached this number almost exactly two years after it was launched – and two months quicker than the PS2 managed. That, of course, went on to become the best selling console ever.

The last official numbers released for Xbox One was 10m units shipped back in November 2014. Microsoft said last month that it will no longer reveal sales numbers for its console.

During the quarter ending September PS4 outsold Xbox One my more than 100%. Microsoft, however, had a rare win in September when Xbox One outsold PS4 in the US for only the second time this year.

Both companies will be hoping for a stellar performance during Black Friday this weekend and then through to Christmas.
