PS4 updates bringing new video sharing options, HDCP off, Twitch archiving, upped resolution

Sony has detailed some significant new functionality being added to its Share button.

An update coming soon” to PS4 will, as stated on the PlayStation blog, add the following:

  • A rich video editor with a simple tool to personalise your video clips
  • The ability to export to and save the videos and screenshots you create by pressing the Share button to a USB drive
  • The option to turn HDCP off for capturing gameplay via HDMI

In addition, a separate software update coming in the future” will add the ability for Twitch stream archiving and up the broadcast resolution to 720p.
