Rainbow Six Siege has a release date

Ubisoft has confirmed a pre-Christmas release date for tactical shooter Rainbow Six Siege.

The game will be released on PS4, Xbox One and PC worldwide on October 13th. It’s the first game in the series since 2008’s Rainbow Six Vegas 2.

A number of editions have been announced – The Art of Siege Edition, The Gold Edition (including Season Pass) and uPlay-only Tactical Elite Edition. A pre-order cements access to the closed beta.

Siege began life as Rainbow Six Patriots, which was announced way back in November 2011. Two years later, however, Ubisoft admitted that it had started over with the game. Siege was subsequently unveiled last summer.

It’s Q4 release window will help fill the gap left by The Division, which was recently delayed until Q1 2016. That game was originally due in 2014, incidentally.
