RE: Operation Raccoon City confirmed

As was rumoured on Friday of last week, Capcom has drafted in a new development partner for work on a brand new Resident Evil spin-off series for PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.

SOCOM developer Slant 6 is working on the title which is described as a third person squad-based shooter that "reinterprets" the events seen in Resident Evil2 and Resident Evil 3.

Players will tackle both zombies and also US special forces who are out to stop the Umbrella Corporation from covering up a massive T-virus outbreak. Online co-op for up to four players will be central to the gaming style.

Familiar names such as leon Kennedy will return, along with the chance to re-write Resident Evil canon.

Operation Raccoon City will be out some time this winter.

Capcom has also confirmed that upcoming 3DS title Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D will also include a playable demo of Resident Evil: Revelations, more details of which are set to be announced at E3.
