Resident Evil 5 ships 4 million

Resident Evil 5 was already a safe bet to top the UK charts later today, and more good news for the title comes with Capcom confirming that it has shipped 4m copies of the titles worldwide.

The game sold a hearty 400,000 copies in Japan in its opening week, and a similar performance will most likely be revealed in the UK later today.

A statement from the publisher said: Thanks to the company’s proprietary engine, the MT Framework, Capcom was able to make Resident Evil 5 a multi-platform title, giving a vast number of players the opportunity to enjoy the game.”

In addition, Capcom has also revealed that its Resident Evil 5 demo, which is available on Xbox Live and PSN, has been downloaded 4m times since its release.
