Retail version of Minecraft landing on Xbox One one month after PS4

It seems that Microsoft’s $2.5bn acquisition of Minecraft creator Mojang doesn’t mean the retail version of the brick-building game will launch on Xbox One ahead of its rival, the PS4.

Microsoft’s Xbox News Wire has dated the release of the massively popular title on Xbox One for November 18th, priced at $19.99 in the US.

This is particularly surprising given the release date for the retail version of Minecraft: PlayStation 4 Edition is currently slated for October 3rd here in the UK (October 7th in the US).

This means the Xbox One edition of the game will take over a month longer to reach the console – an odd scheduling choice given Microsoft’s new ownership of the multi-million-selling property.

Both the Xbox One and PS4 editions of the game will allow existing Minecraft fans playing on last-gen consoles to upgrade to the physical or digital next-gen edition for $4.99.
