Rock Band 3 announced

Rock Band 3 has been officially revealed by developer Harmonix, with a worldwide release scheduled for Q4.

An update on the game’s Facebook page said: Rock Band 3 will be published by MTV Games and distributed by Electronic Arts, and will innovate and revolutionize the music genre once again, just as Harmonix did with the original Rock Band games.”

Philippe Dauman, president and CEP of Viacom, which owns MTV Games, also confirmed Rock Band 3 at the Credit Suisse Group Global Media and Communications Conference.

More details are expected to be revealed towards the game’s release, which will join upcoming Green Day: Rock Band this year. Previous games in the franchise include Rock Band, Rock Band 2, The Beatles: Rock Band and LEGO Rock Band.

The news ends talk that EA may be set to drop the franchise after what some labelled as ‘disappointing’ sales.

New DLC for Rock Band 2 will also be available to download next week, including tracks from Lady Gaga and even a cover of Poker Face” by South Park’s Eric Cartman.
