Rory McIlroy is the new face of EA’s PGA our series

EA has announced Rory McIlroy PGA Tour, ushering in a new Tiger Woods-less era for the golf series.

The publisher parted company with the troubled Woods in late 2013 and 2014 was the first year since 1993 that EA hadn’t released a golf title.

Now, Northern Irish world No.1 Rory McIlroy will be the face of the series, kicking off with a new title in June for PS4 and Xbox One.

It is being built by Florida’s EA Tiburon studio using Battlefield’s Frostbite engine and will render the entire course at once, eliminating loading times between holes. Courses will be a mix of real-world and fantasy settings.

I’m very proud and humbled to see my face and name on EA Sports Rory McIlroy PGA TOUR,” McIlroy stated. This is a great honour, and something I couldn’t even dream of growing up playing the sport. I really hope people enjoy the game and I’m very glad I can be a part of it.”
