Settlers 7 users hit by DRM trouble

The Settlers 7: Paths to a Kingdom is the latest title to suffer from DRM issues that have left some players unable to play the game.

The publisher’s DRM requires users to register the title online and play with a constant internet connection, but many have had errors logging into the game.

Settlers 7 launched two weeks ago and since then hundreds of players have left complaints on the game’s forum.

A Ubisoft spokesperson told Eurogamer: Settlers 7 players have encountered difficulties playing the game over the holiday weekend due to issues with servers that run matchmaking in multiplayer mode and keep track of profiles, campaign progression and stats in both solo and multi modes.”

Our technical teams have made progress but we are not yet able to say that the issue is completely resolved.”

The problems are the latest in a long line of ‘always on’ DRM woe for Ubisoft, with many gamers recently left unable to play the likes of Assassin’s Creed II thanks to an attack on the publisher’s servers.
