40 executives, including CEO, forgo $10 million in "unprecedented" gesture

Sony execs give up bonuses

Forty executives at Sony have forgone their bonuses as a gesture of contrition for four years in the red.

The Raw Story reports the PlayStation manufacturer has shown relatively improved performance, but even so top leadership opted out of bonuses that could have amounted to $10 million US.

Even the company CEO Kazuo Hirai gave up his bonus.

This isn’t the first time Sony executives have given up their bonus money, but a company spokesperson said the number involved was "unprecedented".

Sony may find itself soon in the black after massive cuts and the release of the PlayStation 4, but is still wieghed down by a sagging electronics division.
