Sony pulling Facebook support from PS3, Vita

Sony is pulling support of Facebook on PS3 and Vita, with the app no longer available on the PlayStation Store as of earlier this month.

Polygonreports the move goes beyond just the app’s removal, as Facebook integration is scheduled to be completely scrubbed from Sony’s current handheld and last-gen console by January.

Support for the social network will also be pulled from Sony’s PlayStation TV microconsole at that time.

The move doesn’t affect PS4 – features like linking the console to a user’s Facebook account or sharing captured video to Facebook are still in place for owners of the console.

Earlier this year, Sonyremoved Maps, Near and YouTube supportfrom Vita in a firmware update.
