Total sales now stand at 25.3m

Sony sold 3m PS4s in Q1

Sony sold three million PS4s in the three months ending June 30th.

The figure is up on the same period the previous year, where the firm shifted 2.7 million units. As a result of continued strong performance of the console, sales forecasts for the year have been raised to 16.5m.

Total lifetime PS4 sales now sit at 25.3m.

Sales for Sony’s game and network services business grew from £1.32bn to £1.48bn during the three months ending June 30th from the same period last year. Operating income meanwhile rose from £22m to £100.4m.

Overall sales and operating revenue for Sony stood at £9.31bn, slightly down from the year prior. Operating income however rose from £359m to £499m.
