Sony to reveal PS4 "release plans" this week

Specific launch dates for the Playstation 4 may arrive this week, as Sony has teased it will be sharing release plans” for the new hardware at Gamescom.

A post on the Playstation Europe blog describes the content of Sony’s August 20th press conference as a briefing on the hardware maker’s plans regarding the PS4’s release.

It’s unclear what the plans actually entail, but seems as good a time as any to put out a firm date likely just a few months at most ahead of launch.

As one might expect, the company is offering livestream options for those unable to make it out to Cologne, Germany for the announcements.

The event kicks off this Tuesday at 18:00 BST.
