Sony unveils Official PlayStation League eSports platform

PlayStation is making its move in the eSports market.

Hardcoregamer reports that the Official PlayStation League was announced at a Spanish press event and will debut in Spain tomorrow (October 16th). A rollout in Portugal and Italy will follow shortly after and, presumably, a wider European expansion will follow shortly after.

The platform is designed for PS4, will be free to PlayStation Plus subscribers and will be linked to PSN accounts. Both individual and team prizes will be offered, with events being split into seasons.

Launch titles include Battlefield 4, Call of Duty: Ghosts and FIFA 15 with others such as Driveclub and Battlefield: Hardline scheduled to join in the future.

Expect more information to appear on the official site at some stage.
