Sony video service to hit Europe in 2010

Sony is set to deliver on its promise of a video distribution service for Europe, announcing the system will launch next year.

The announcement came during Kaz Hirai’s keynote speech at this year’s Tokyo Game Show.

He told attendees: We introduced a new video distribution service in the US, with 300 movie titles at launch and 1200 episodes of TV drama. Today, we have more than 13,300 TV dramas and 23,000 movies, and this service is going to be expanded outside the US.

We are planning on rolling this service out to all of Europe by the end of 2010.”

Sony previously confirmed its movies-on-demand service would be heading to European PS3 users at this year’s Gamescom.
