SPIL: Platform holders will open up their platforms

Sidney Mock, the CCO of the world’s leading casual games network SPIL Games, has stated that the tight controls that platform holders Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo have on content for their platforms are destined to fall over time.

Consoles are increasingly going online, though of course there are the walled-gardens of consoles to contend with, though they will probably open in the long term,” Mock stated in Part Two of CasualGaming’biz’s three-part interview.

You see it in so many industries. It will involve over time. There are good reasons to keep the walls for now. A lot of investment has been made by these companies and they need to make their money back before they can open up their platforms."
