Square Enix profits double over past six months

Square Enix saw significant revenue and profits increases in its most recent six-month fiscal period, the publisher’s latest financial results show.

Mobile titles Dragon Quest Monsters Super Light and Schoolgirl Strikers were among the products mentioned as major revenue drivers for the period, with MMOs Final Fantasy XIV and Dragon Quest X highlighted in the report as well.

Square Enix earned 73.1bn (around $638m USD) in revenue for the six-month period that concluded on September 30th, 2014 – an 18 per cent improvement from last year’s total. Net profits increased by 110 per cent to 5.7bn, while operating profit for the period was up 130 per cent to 7.9bn.

The firm’s Digital Entertainment segment also saw a year-on-year increase of nearly 43 per cent, up to 43.8bn.

Due to the outperformance in expectations, Square Enix has raised its annual revenue forecast by 10bn to between 150bn and 160bn. The company has also projected an annual profit increase of 4bn to between 7bn and 10bn.
