The Witcher: The Musical hits London’s West End

Namco Bandai will bring hit RPG franchise The Witcher to theatres this year in the form of a new musical stage show.

The Witcher: A Temerian Story hasbeen described by the publisher as ‘the West End’s most constroversial musical ever’, and will show at the Duchess Theatre in London’s West End this September. A world tour will follow early next year.

Actors being considered for the lead role of monster slayer Geralt include Gladiator star Russell Crowe, Lost’s Josh Holloway and former footballer Robbie Savage. Female stars Isla Fisher and Christina Hendricks look set to play the part of sidekick sorceress Triss.

MCV understands that Spice Girl Gerri Halliwell is also in the running for the lead female role.

The news comes as The Witcher 2 prepares to hit UK shelves on Xbox 360 on April 17th.

The Witcher: A Temerian Story stage show follows the story of Geralt the Riv, a monster slayer with supernatural abilities who is wrongfully accused of assassinating King Foltest of Temeria. He embarks on a quest to bring the real culprit to justice.

A Namco Bandai statement read: "Geralt’s adventures through Temeria are packed with epic swordfights, unbelievable monsters and some of the raciest moments ever seen in the West End.

"This is the West End’s most controversial musical ever. It’s set to resurrect the adult musical genre with its unique and volatile mix of sex and the supernatural against the backdrop of a dark and violent fantasy world."
