Thief is No.1 as three new games enter Top Ten

Square Enix has claimed its second UK No.1 of 2014 with Thief getting off to a chart-topping debut.

The games dominates this week’s UKIE GfK Chart-Track All Formats Top 40 and in the words of UKIE smashes” the week one numbers enjoyed by its predecessor Thief: Deadly Shadows in 2004.

It also claims the second highest sales for a 2014 No.1 behind FIFA 14 with next-gen accounting for 75 per cent of sales.

There are two other new entries in the Top Ten – EA’s Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare at No.4 and Konami’s Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 at No.10, although sales of the vampire romp fall short of the first Lords of Shadow.

As well as this, Namco Bandai’s Tales of Symphonia: Chronicles debuts in 13th and PQube’s Senran Kagura Burst sneaks into the Top 40 in 38th.
