But publisher refuses to be drawn on the future of studio's employees

Ubisoft acquires new THQ Montreal IP 1666

Ubisoft has confirmed that new IP 1666 was part of the firm’s $2.5m acquisition of THQ Montreal.

The mysterious new IP is predicted to be a historical story – perhaps based around the Great Fire of London – but little is known about the title. It was being headed-up by former Ubisoft and Assassin’s Creed veteran Patrice Désilets.

In fact, THQ Montreal features a number of former Ubisoft staff. But the publisher would not be drawn on the future of the studio’s employees.

"The unannounced title being developed by THQ Montreal is included in the acquisition," the firm told MCV in a statement.

"We’re not going to comment on individual employees, but we are very excited about THQ Montreal becoming part of Ubisoft."

MCV has the full story.
