Ubisoft acquires Quazal Technologies

Ubisoft has announced the acquisition of Quazal Technologies, the multiplayer middleware firm whose tech has been integrated into the upcoming Ubisoft title Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood.

“Quazal and Ubisoft have worked closely together for several years now to create amazing online experiences for our major brands,” said Ubisoft’s technology group executive director Quentin Gallet.

“The engineers at Quazal have honed their expertise over 12 years and this acquisition guarantees Ubisoft a solid technology that will help us to attain the ambitious objectives of our online strategy.”

Creator of the Rendez-Vous and Net-Z solutions, Quazal’s tech will remain available to licence to the interactive entertainment industry.

“Today’s announcement is the culmination of ten years of dedication by the teams at Quazal,” said Quazal co-founder and CEO Sylvain Beaudry.

“Their talent, their passion and their commitment to developing online technology of the highest quality are the reasons for Ubisoft’s decision to acquire our company.”
