Ubisoft announces new Prince of Persia

In a surprise announcement, Ubisoft has revealed that a brand new Prince of Persia game is in development and will be released in May of next year – to coincide with the theatrical release of the associated movie.

Dubbed Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands, the game hopes to build upon the success of the recent franchise relaunch as well as capitalise on the hype surrounding the new movie, starring Jake Gyllenhaal.

This new instalment in the critically-acclaimed franchise marks the return to the Prince of Persia: Sands of Time storyline,” a statement reads.

The Forgotten Sands will feature many of the fan-favourite elements from the original series as well as new gameplay innovations that gamers have come to expect from the Prince of Persia brand.”

The is in development for both handhelds and consoles, though platforms have not yet been specified.
