Ubisoft explains PS3 no-show for The Crew

The fact that PS3 is built in a very different way to PS4 and Xbox One is the reason for The Crew skipping Sony’s last-gen console.

"The Crew was originally built for the new generation of consoles, so when we made the decision to port it to the previous generation, we decided to focus solely on the platform closest to the new-gen’s technical infrastructure, which is the Xbox 360,” a Ubisoft rep told Polygon.

We are not currently working on a version for PS3 and are focused on delivering The Crew for Xbox One, PS4, PC and Xbox 360 simultaneously on November 11th."

Ubisoft revealed earlier this week that it has tasked a separate developer to create a version of upcoming racer The Crew for Xbox 360.

The previously announced PS4, Xbox One and PC version is being developed by Ivory Tower and Ubisoft Reflection but this new last-gen version is being created by Asobo Studio with support from the teams at Ivory Tower, Ubisoft Reflections and Ubisoft Shanghai”.

It has subsequently said that the Xbox 360 release will offer more or less an identical feature set to the next-gen versions.
