Ubisoft RTS AirMech Arena coming to PS4 and Xbox One

Carbon Games title AirMech Arena will be released on next-gen consoles, publisher Ubisoft has confirmed.

The game sees players controlling one of nine transforming robots tasked with both defending their own base and taking control of their opponents’. In truth it sounds a lot like a MOBA, although it is not being described as such.

Crucially it will be free-to-play (although Xbox One owners will need an Xbox Live Gold account) and feature both 1v1 and 3v3 multiplayer and co-op. Players can earn in-game currency Kudos to unlock extras, or instead presumably pay up with real cash.

Carbon’s original AirMech title was released on PC in 2012, with an Xbox 360 version arriving last year.

AirMech Arena will be released in the spring.
