Enterprise license will see multiplayer tech integration and long-term consultancy for upcoming titles

Ubisoft signs deal with Quazal

Ubisoft has signed a deal with multiplayer middleware firm Quazal to use its functionality in several upcoming games.

Classed as an ‘Enterprise license’, Ubisoft will not only be able to use Rendez-Vous, Net-Z and Spark! in their titles, but will also have a long-term services and consulting agreement to ‘provide assistance from dedicated engineers with integration and feature development’.

“Online features and the development platform on which to build them are becoming the foundation of alternate monetization strategies for publishers,” said Sylvain Beaudry, CEO at Quazal.

“In standardizing on Quazal’s proven solutions, Ubisoft, one of the world’s largest and most successful game publishers, has demonstrated that the maturity of Net-Z, Rendez-Vous and Spark!, in conjunction with our extensive consulting capabilities, represents a natural winner when selecting an online technology provider.”

Christine Burgess-Quémard, executive director of worldwide studios at Ubisoft, added: “Cutting-edge multiplayer experiences are increasingly important to successful games. By securing this Enterprise deal, Ubisoft is positioning itself to be at the forefront of the next generation of online enabled titles.”
