Ubisoft to open theme park in Malaysia

Assassin’s Creed publisher Ubisoft has anounced its intention to open a theme park in Malaysia.

According to a post on the Ubi Blog, the attraction will be situated in the nation’s capital of Kuala Lumpur. It’s set to open in 2020 and will be 10,000 square meters in size.

Unsurprisingly it will feature ‘rides, shows and other attractions’ themed around Ubisoft’s games and characters.

This isn’t the first time a game publisher has opened a theme park based on its franchises; Rovio opened an Angry Birds attraction in China, while Nintendo rides are set for Universal’s theme parks.

Ubisoft’s intention for this park is to immerse people in reactive worlds where they can interact with each other and become the heroes of their own life-sized game,” said Ubisoft Motion Pictures SVP, Jean de Rivires.

He continued: Malaysia is the second-most-visited country in Asia [citing a 2014 report by the World Tourism Organization]. There is room for multiple projects to take root in the region and a growing middle class with an increasing income and appetite for entertainment.”
