Ubisoft’s VR games feature cross-platform play

The chances of finding a healthy player base for Ubisoft’s multiplayer VR games have been given a welcome boost.

The publisher has announced that its multiplayer VR titles will all offer cross-platform play, meaning owners of the HTC Vive, Oculus Rift and PlayStation VR can all seamlessly compete with one another – which seems like an excellent way to combat potentially small player numbers in the sector’s formative period.

So far the functionality has been confirmed for Eagle Flight, Star Trek: Bridge Crew and Werewolves Within.

Making our VR titles cross-platform has been a goal of ours from the start and we’re happy to announce that Eagle Flight, Werewolves Within, and Star Trek: Bridge Crew will be playable cross-platform on PSVR, Oculus Rift, and HTC Vive,” senior creative director at Red Storm David Votypka said.

Our games feature a strong multiplayer experiences, so letting friends play together regardless of which headset they own will enhance the social nature of our games and let them be played the way we envisioned.”
